Virginia Lee (Dinsmore) Leiendecker

Virginia Lee Leiendecker, 89, Hereford, was born May 24, 1930 to Joseph and Amelia Dinsmore in Bisbee, Arizona. Virginia was one of six children and attended Bisbee public schools, graduating from Bisbee High in 1948.

She attended Rockmont College in Denver, Colorado and later worked for the Arizona Corporation Commission in Phoenix. In 1951 Virginia married Ben Leiendecker of Hereford and shortly after moved into their new rock home on the family ranch where she lived the rest of her life.

As a housewife, Virginia raised their three sons, Dale, Philip and James. In 1970 she returned to Cochise College and the University of Arizona earning her degree in education. Virginia taught 4th grade at Palominas School for 20 years before retiring to work full time helping run San Pedro Ranch Supply, the family owned feed and hardware store in Palominas.

In 2001 Ben and Virginia sold the business and continued to ranch, garden and spend time visiting the elderly in the local nursing homes. She made many meals for those who needed help and hosted bible studies in her home with ladies from the church and community. Ben and Virginia were active members of the First Baptist Church in Bisbee for over 30 years and were members of the Country Estates Baptist Church fellowship for the past 20 years.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ben, son Dale and great grandson Ray Lee. She is survived by sons Philip (Susan), James (Becky), daughter in law Patricia, grandchildren Andrew (Alaina), Samuel, Jenney (Matt), Amber, Joe, great grandchildren Sidney (Steven), Leah, Alisia, Ashton, Jade, Bria and Jayde.

A viewing will be held on Friday June 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jensen’s Sierra Vista Mortuary, 5515 W. Hwy 92.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at Country Estates Baptist Church at 5700 S. Hwy 92, Hereford.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Virginia to the Gideons International.
