Thomas Lee Beatty

THOMAS LEE BEATTY Sr. 05/30/1938 - 09/10/25  In loving memory of Thomas (Tom) Lee Beatty, 87, of Hereford, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 while in hospice care in Tucson, Arizona.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and entrepreneur.

Tom was born May 30, 1938  in Fargo, North Dakota to James Wayne and Evelyn (Peterson) Beatty. He grew up in Felton, MN and completed his Master of Mathematics at North Dakota State University.  With his degree, he worked as a computer programmer for various companies and as well as a civil servant for most of his career. On a return trip from work in Greenland, he met his wife, Edith May White, in Winnipeg, Canada.  After marriage, they made their way to southern Arizona, where they purchased a plot of land in Miller Canyon and started a family and the family business. 

Tom taught his children to work hard and took the family on many adventures camping, hunting, and beekeeping. Tom loved his hunting trips, pruning the apple trees, working on improvements to the property and sharing stories with friends, family and visitors for many years. Tom was a very proud husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.

Tom is survived by his wife, Edith, whom he’s been married to for 60 years, and his children Thomas L. Beatty Jr. of Hereford, AZ, Jennifer L. Maxwell and her husband James, of Tucson, AZ, John J. Beatty and his wife, Donna, of Chandler, AZ, and Jason L. Beatty and his wife, Elsa, of Petaluma, California, and his grandchildren, Josephine, Kate, John, Charles, Logan, Megan, Eva, Sofia, and Kai, as well as his sisters, Patricia Knauer of Scottsdale and his sister-in-law, Cathy Beatty of New Mexico, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Evelyn Beatty, his sisters Peggy Sather, Joan Tabak, and his brother, James Beatty.

In accordance with his wishes, Tom has been cremated. His family & friends will gather to spread his ashes on the family property in October as the leaves are changing.
