Shirley Swanson Obituary

Shirley began her Journey through Life , as Dorothy Coble born on the 8th of May 1925 as a Love Child of Audrey Mina Coble and one Thomas Harold James. With both parents being very young and the difficult economic times, their Parent's collectively felt it necessary to place Dorothy for adoption in Lamar, Colorado. She was placed for adoption with the Colorado State Home in Lamar, Colorado and was adopted by Robert and Leona Misener in January of 1926 and given the legal name of Shirley Ruth Misener.

The Misener Family resided in Denver, Colorado where Shirley spent all of her years "growing up". She was married February 14th 0f 1942 to Thomas E Swanson, also a Colorado native born in 1921 in Denver.

Tom was quickly Drafted into the US Army to serve as a Sargent for our Nation during World War 2. Tom was on Duty when their first child, Ted, was born in August of 1943. Shirley became one of thousands of young women serving as single parents during the tumultuous war years. After the War, Tom and Shirley had a second child, a daughter Sandy, born in 1948 and the small family of four remained in Denver for a significant portion of their adult lives. Sandy was an Executive with a large Denver Home Builder and Ted was a university professor at a State of Colorado Campus.

Shirley had a career path following the home furnishing and interior decorating business.

She enjoyed Fishing, Bowling, Cards, Reading, and traveling.

She will be missed by her son, four grand children, three great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

A Memorial to Honor Her Life will be scheduled at a later date in Denver to coincide with her Interment next to Husband Tom at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver.
