Roy Boyd Sands
April 25, 1955 - February 25, 2025
Roy Boyd Sands was born on April 29th, 1955 in Tombstone, Arizona to Edra and Boyd Sands. He presided in Tombstone for most of lis life before moving to Whetstone in 1988 where he resided until his passing on February 25, 2025.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents Boyd and Edra, as well as his brother, Marty and sister, Geraldine. He is survived by his loving wife Donna, his three children David, Jenifer (Jonathan), and Amanda(James). He is survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother, Gary and younger sister, Lona.
Roy grew up in Tombstone and attended Tombstone High School where he met his wife, Donna and they were married for 49 years. Roy was a volunteer firefighter for the Tombstone Fire Department for a time, working in construction, and retiring after working as a janitor at the R&M Cinema before it closed.
Throughout his life, Roy loved walked along the San Pedro River as well as going to the Sheepshead Mountains with friends and family. Roy took tremendous pride in his landscaping and gardening, particularly his rosebushes. Roy also loved sitting in his shop, playing pool or darts with his family around. He could often be found tinkering around in his shop and building different projects for around his property.
No formal services will be held at this time per Roy's final wishes. The family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Whetstone Fire Department.
