Robert Johnson Obituary

Robert Lawrence Johnson, Bob, was born on November 25, 1930, in Boise Idaho.  He passed away on June 5, 2026 peacefully in the home of his daughter, Lark Fife, in Hereford, Arizona.

He grew up in Boise, Idaho with his parents, Lawrence Lorenzo Johnson and Anna Anita (Sirus) Johnson and one brother, Jerry Alfred Johnson (living in Newport, Oregon). Bob went to High school in Boise, where he met his sweetheart, Barbara Jeanne Crowley. He attended Boise Community College where they both were in the band and he played the clarinet and she played the drums. They eloped to Winnemucca, Nevada in 1950 during Christmas break, where they were married and then moved to Provo Utah where he attended BYU.  After graduating from BYU, they moved their young family and lived in Idaho, Utah, Oregon, Washington and finally to Arizona.

They had ten children, eight of which are still living:

David Eric Johnson

Diana Carole Nelson (Husband Mike)

Lark Lynelle Fife (Husband Richard)

Kathleen Elizabeth Cluff (Husband Jerry)

Phillip Patrick Johnson (deceased)

Michael Brent Johnson (deceased)

Benjamin Stewart Johnson (Wife Melanie)

William Douglas Johnson (Wife Tamara)

Susan Patricia Seelos (Husband Andrew)

Timothy Samuel Johnson

Bob and Barbara were very independent and lived off the grid for 35 years in the beautiful Sonoran Desert by the “Owl Head” mountains in Marana, Arizona. He worked in his own business, Copper State Adjusters, as an insurance adjuster in South Eastern Arizona.

He loved playing his clarinet and played up until a few weeks before he passed away.  He enjoyed flying; he even owned his own plane for a time. He was devoted to and loved his family, especially his wife, who he adored with all his heart.  Dad’s Secret for a Happy Life…” Muddle through as best you can…Always do what you think is right…and have fun with it.”

Bob will be missed by his family which included 48 grandchildren, 128 great grandchildren (plus 2 on the way), and 2 great-great grandchildren (plus 3 on the way).  He especially loved little children and delighted in talking with them. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings in the church.  He was a gentle man who always had a big smile and quick humor.  Bob was an example to all who met him.

The funeral services will be held on Monday June 15, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is located at 2100 Yaqui Street in Sierra Vista, Arizona. The interment will be immediately following at the Cochise Memory Gardens, 5590 E. Charleston Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
