Robert Andrew Gord (Bob) of Sierra Vista was taken home on May 16th 2026 at the age of 87.

Robert Andrew Gord, Bob, passed away peacefully and was taken home on May 16th, 2026 at the age of 87. He was born on March 21, 1939, the son of Willard and Lena Gord in Aurora Illinois, He attended Marmion Military Academy for high school. After graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force. After tech school he became a photographer and was assigned to Romerstadt, Germany. After his tour was over, he returned to Denver CO where he worked for the water company. From Colorado he returned to Illinois and settled in Hinckley. He met and married Mary Ann in July of 1985. They enjoyed 41 years together. While in Hinckley he became a licensed realtor and opened his own Realty World office and then Mid America realty. He enjoyed helping people find their dream homes. He was a trustee on the Hinckley Village Board. He was a member and past president of the Hinckley Lions club. He was the creator of a welcome to Hinckley sign that identified Hinckley as the site of the first Harlem Globetrotters game in 1927. He and Mary Ann were members of the Hinckley First United Methodist church where he was active in the men’s groups, assisted with VBS and worked on plans for the new church. In 2000 Bob and Mary Ann moved to their retirement home in Sierra Vista. Bob enjoyed spending his retirement watching and feeding the birds, driving his classic cars to car shows and having coffee with friends. His love was helping take care of his grandchildren Kenny and Junie Lynn the last 10 years. He enjoyed watching them grow and telling them stories about his adventures. He and Kenny spent many hours playing trains and Junie Lynn loved being given rides on his walker and accepting her best art work. Bob with Mary Ann played a role in both the Sierra Vista Car Club and Hummingbird Chapter of the VMCCA. They were activities directors who liked planning ways to drive the classics.

Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brother David Gord (Terry Baron) of California, Daughter Kathy (Joseph) Kunz of Illinois, Son Tim Gord of Hereford, Michael Gord of California, Pam(Scott) Flippin of Ohio and Amelia (Patrick) Orchekowsky of Sierra Vista. He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Willard and Lena Gord, Sister Sharon Kino and Brother John Gord.

The family would like to thank the staff at Haven Health for the support of Bob the last year and half he was there where he was loved and cared for as family.

A memorial service will be held at Jensen’s Sierra Vista Mortuary on July 17th from 9:00am to 10:00am followed by a Military Committal Service with Military Funeral Honors at Southern Arizona Veterans Cemetery at 11:00am. An informal reception to follow in Kino Hall at Saint Andrews the Apostle Catholic Church in Sierra Vista.

Memorial donations may be made in Bob’s honor to Hinckley First United Methodist Church in Hinckley IL for new trees for around the new parsonage or Buena Automotive Technology and Collision at Buena High School in Sierra Vista AZ.
