Othella Burrows, 95 SIERRA VISTA - Othella Bell Burrows, 95, passed away in her home on October 10, 2017. Othella was born to Creed and Edith Gordon on, May 2, 1922, in Marlow, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Vernon Burrows. She became a resident of Sierra Vista in 1954 when the city was still called Fry, Arizona and lived here until 1958. During those years Othella and family were part of the group that established the Church of Christ in Fry, Arizona.
After her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Army in 1966, they became permanent residents of Sierra Vista. She was a member the Village Meadows Church of Christ (recently renamed “Sierra Vista Church of Christ”) for many years. Most of her life she taught Bible classes to children and women. Othella also wrote Bible lessons.
Two of her goals in life were to let people see Jesus living in her and to encourage others. Othella was proud of her Choctaw Indian heritage. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and The Folsom Family association.
Othella is survived by: daughter, Veron “Katie” York (Will) of Sierra Vista, son, Fred Burrows (Sandra) of Buffalo, New York; daughter, Nancie Strobeck of Sierra Vista; daughter, Mary Pena (Stan) of Phoenix, Arizona; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and loads of spiritual children. You know who you are. Othella wanted all of you to know she loves you and was honored to be your prayer warrior.
Services will be held at Jensen’s Sierra Vista Mortuary, 5515 S. Hwy 92, Sierra Vista, Arizona. Viewing will be October 14, 2017 between 5 and 7 p.m. Funeral will be October 16, 2017 at 11 a.m.
