Martha Pitts Obituary

(Martha) Jane Pitts, 87, was much loved and surrounded by her family when on Saturday, September 1, 2018 she received Christ’s promise of eternal life. Jesus said, “Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die–ever” (John 11:26).

Jane was born in Owensboro, Kentucky and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she met her future husband, Bob. They would eventually make their home in Owensboro until moving to Arizona in 1973.

To finish his career and her return to raising quarter horses they moved to Texas. After his retirement they moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona in 1995.

Jane was known by many as an accomplished artist having won countless awards during her 74 years as an artist.

A highlight of her life was receiving the Mayor’s Arts Award recognizing her as “Artist of the Year” in 2008. In addition to her art, Jane was also a water aerobics instructor and did that until she was 75. Other notables are that Jane served as a volunteer with ViCap and was an adult Sunday School teacher at Village Meadows Baptist Church, where her son is pastor.

Jane is survived by daughter Marty (Greg) Bishop, daughter Susie (Roger) Holder, son Mark (Nancy), and daughter Elizabeth (David) Koch, as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration service will be held at Village Meadows Baptist Church on Saturday, September 8, 11:00 a.m.
