Marlene Hutchins will be remembered most for her smile and outgoing personality, making friends every place she went. She was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, and loyal friend to so many.
She passed away on the 13th of January 2019 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her own home after years of struggle with Dementia.
Marlene was born in Wichita, Kansas and grew up in Tucson, Arizona. She moved to Glendale, Arizona where she had two children, Diana Garcia and Douglas McFee. Through a close friend she met her love of her life, her husband Edward Hutchins. They were married and in love for over 36 years.
They had many travels and adventures together. They lived and met in Glendale, Arizona, moved for a short time to Sierra Vista, Arizona, then to Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, spent a year in Korea without kids and then back to Sierra Vista for over 20 years. From there they moved to New Ulm, Minnesota and lived happily for 13 years, but finally deciding to move back where her heart belonged, Sierra Vista for the last two years of her life.
Marlene had a special place in her heart for Sierra Vista. She owned a craft store, The Primitive Hutch located next to Safeway where she spent many happy times making friends with all her customers.
She was very active in the Huachuca Art Association and helped run the Art in Park back in the 1980’s. Among Marlene’s passions was tole-painting, painting Ed’s wood carvings and quilting. Golden memories of her warmth, smile, grace, and love will be an eternal blessing to her family, friends, and loved ones and all her knew her over the years.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Hutchins of Sierra Vista, AZ; a daughter and son, Diana Garcia (Melissa) of Clarksburg, MD, Douglas McFee (Jeram) of Sierra Vista, AZ.; her grandchildren Sofia, Lily, Maximo, Douglas, and Jacob; her Step-daughter Karen Campbell (Greg) and Katrina Hutchins-Harris (James); step-grandchildren Kayla, and KT; and step-great grandchild Emery.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Jensen’s Mortuary, Sierra Vista, AZ. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00PM followed by the funeral service at 3:00PM.
