Maria C. Calchera passed away peacefully on August 13th, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. Maria was born in Sintra, Portugal on June 6th,1927 to Jose and Deolinda Gomes Pereira. She went on to work at the American Embassy in Lisbon where she met the love of her life, Alfred Calchera. They wed and had two beautiful daughters; Vola and Deolinda. She soon decided to devote her life to her daughter who has special needs.

Maria enjoyed sewing, visiting with her friends, and feeding her birds. She was active in the SHARC and the special Olympics. Maria was charitable and generous. She loved animals and absolutely adored her granddaughters and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughters, Vola (Mike) Dague and Deolinda Calchera from Sierra Vista, AZ.; her great granddaughters; Hollie (Alan) Brown of Sierra Vista, AZ; Lisa (Jonathan) Schnier of Paradise Valley, AZ; and 4 great grandchildren. 

She is preceded by her loving husband of 31 years, Alfred Calchera; her parents Jose Gomes Pereira and Deolinda de Conceicao, and a brother. 

There will be a committal Service at the Fort Huachuca Cemetery on August 23rd, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
