Loyd K. Barton II (aka, Papa, bubba and Maverick) passed away on June 10, 2018. He had lived in Bisbee since 1993, and had served in the US Army from 1971 – 1973. He was most recently employed by the Bisbee Police Department as the part time Animal Control Officer.
He volunteered his time with the Masonic Lodge of Bisbee, the American Legion, and as the Area Commander for Cochise County as a Major for the Arizona Rangers. He retired from Cochise County Juvenile Court Services in 2013 after 17 years of government services.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Barton of 40 years of marriage; their three children: Jennifer Dudas, of Tucson, Arizona; Loyd Barton III, of Hereford, Arizona and Jessica Barton of Marana, Arizona. Their spouses, Tristan Dudas and Kayla Barton. He also had seven grandchildren: Halie Thomas; Lucas, Jasmyne, Nicholas and Noah Dudas; Kayley and Loyd (IV) Barton. Loyd also had another daughter, Lisa Hinkle, from Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Charlet LePard, of Bisbee, Arizona and George Barton of Las Vegas, NV; and a half sister, Joan Raia of Bisbee, AZ. Loyd was an amazing father and papa. He went out of his way to help his family and friends in any capacity. He loved to tell stories and make people laugh. He was a complicated man but was easy to love once you knew and understand him. His wet mustache kisses and big bear-hugs made us feel safe and loved. He will greatly be missed by his family.
