Lori Stearns-Hostetler Obituary

Lori Mote Stearns Hostetler

11/09/1964 - 09/24/2023

Lori Mote Stearns Hostetler, age 58, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 24th at her home in Sierra Vista, AZ.

Lori was born in Tipp City, Ohio to Jack Isaac and the late Miriam Morton on November 9, 1964. Melvyn Mote then adopted Lori, and she received the Mote name. She was the oldest of six siblings.

Lori is survived by her husband Mark “Hoss”, sons Jacob and Anthony (Desiree) Stearns, step-daughters Lisa and Hollie, grandchildren Ethan, Zachary, Mila, and Thomas, brothers Clark (Lara) and Jeff, and sisters Amanda (Kelley) Williams and Caroline Isaac along with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Lori was preceded in death by her grandparents Delmar and Frances Morton, her mother Miriam and father Mel, her aunt Juanita Small, her first husband Scott Stearns, her brother Matthew Mote and her nephew William Mote.

Lori joined the United States Coast Guard in 1988, and this provided the opportunity to live in San Antonio, Sault Ste. Marie, Seattle, and finally Sierra Vista, Arizona. Lori attended the University of Arizona where she studied psychology. She married Mark Hostetler in August of 1999 and between the two of them, they raised four children.

Lori was a very active Southern Arizona Harley Riders MC member. She loved her Old English Sheepdogs, the mountains, learning about sustainability, spiritual beliefs, and all things hemp. A free spirit through and through, she always showed up with a smile on her face and was always there when you needed her.
