Lawrence (Larry) Paul Rau, 81, passed away on May 11, 2019 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Larry was born on January 8, 1938 in Sedgwick County, Kansas to parents Julius W. Rau and Barbara M Koenigs.
After graduating, Larry joined the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Marshal. He later joined the brick masons local union, which he belonged to for over 50 years.
He loved camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family and his many friends. He was a member of CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) and enjoyed competing in chili cook off competitions.
Larry is survived by Patricia Rau, his loving wife of 55 years; son, Greg Rau; daughters, Dee Kunau (Steve Kunau), and Susan Rau (John Hill); granddaughter, Morgan Rau; sister , Joanne Rau; and brother, Marvin Rau (Kate Rau).
Larry’s family is having a tribute in his memory at the Manda Le Restaurant on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 PM.
A Mass is scheduled for 9:00 AM on May 25, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sierra Vista, AZ. Father Greg will officiate.
