Kyong S. Darick, 58, passed away on the night of September 8, in a tragic car accident in Bisbee, Arizona.
Kyong was born in South Korea on a small family farm. She met the man who would become her husband in a cafe near Seoul when she was 19 years old. Soon after, she decided to leave home with him and start a family.
She and her American husband had a single child and would continue to travel the world for nearly two decades — due to her husband being an active duty U.S. military member — before settling down in Sierra Vista. Some of the locations in which they resided include several cities in Korea, Germany, and many states and cities in the United States.
Kyong, a deeply devout Christian, had always maintained a strong relationship with the Church. And, the members of every congregation she attended at various locations were often considered her family away from home.
In her latter years, these members of her ‘family away from home’ would become even closer to her as she struggled with various health issues. It is only with the help and support of this community of hers that she was able to traverse many difficult days.
She divorced in June of 2015, and since was living in Huachuca City.
Kyong had many joyful experiences in life, but, perhaps it could be said the challenges in her life were equally as great. May she now rest in peace.
She is survived by her son, David T. Darick.
A memorial service will be held on Friday September 21, 2018, at the Sierra Vista Servants of Christ Church at 11 a.m. Address: 3814 E. Foothills Dr. Sierra Vista, AZ 85635
