Jesse L Whitworth

Jesse L. Whitworth passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Tucson Medical Center (TMC) after a brief unexpected illness. Jesse was born on February 2, 1926 in Jeffersontown, Kentucky to Delmar and Elizabeth Whitworth.

Jesse was a WWII veteran aboard the USS Washington in the Pacific theater and was highlighted in an article about WWII veterans in the Sierra Vista Herald on June 6, 2019. Jesse was a patriot who loved his country and was proud of his WWII military service. A highlight of his life was participating in an Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2016.

Jesse was a resident of Hereford, Arizona for 27-1/2 years after moving with his wife, Virginia (died in September 2007) from Elkhart, Indiana in December 1993. He also lived in Louisville, Kentucky and Kissimmee, Florida. He was employed at Holiday Rambler in Nappanee, Inidana prior to his retirement in 1990. Jesse enjoyed dancing and won several contests.

He also loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Jesse is survived by his sons, William (Kathy) in Hereford, David in Louisville, Kentucky, Henry (Adonna) in Athens, Tennessee, and two daughters, Mary and Ann in Louisville, Kentucky. He is also survived by two brothers, Delmar, Jr. (Martha) of Louisville, Kentucky and Kenneth (Shirley) of Middlebury, Indiana and sister Brenda of Middlebury, Indiana as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His mother and father, brother Ralph and sister Edna preceded him in death as well as his youngest son Michael.

Jesse was a friendly, kind person who had many friends in the local area who will miss him dearly. He was called the mayor of his street by many of his neighbors and friends.

Jensen’s Mortuary performed immediate cremation.
