Jerald (Jerry) Wayne Morgan passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. He was 84 years old.
He was preceded by his parents: William Hanson (Hank) Morgan and Lila Mae Morgan. He is survived by his wife Patricia Morgan; his sons: Ronald Morgan, Richard Morgan (Melissa); his daughter Rochelle Morgan; his grandchildren: Bryan, Brittany (Shay), Natalie, John, and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Sharron and Leliana; and Kelly Caldwell.
Jerry was born on February 8, 1938 in Morton’s Gap, Kentucky, where he lived for several years before relocating with his family to Tucson, Arizona, where he eventually met his wife, Patricia. He joined the Air Force at 17, before working in the Aviation Industry with Douglas, Lockheed, and Boeing amongst others. After returning to Arizona with his young family, Jerry worked with Tucson Gas & Electric, before settling in his final job at Southwest Gas, first in Tucson, Arizona, then in Bisbee, Arizona.
Always willing to help others, retirement was not the end of the line for Jerry. He went on to volunteer with True Foundation Builders, building several churches throughout Arizona; was a house parent (along with his wife) with the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Show Low, Arizona; and finally as the camp handyman for Huachuca Oaks Christian Camp in Hereford, Arizona.
Jerry enjoyed bowling, fixing things, and camping trips to the mountains, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, UA Basketball, and the Arizona Diamondbacks; spending many of his later years watching games on TV, with his cat Iris on his lap. He lovingly referred to Iris as “his girl”.
Jerry will be interred at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00am, at First Southern Baptist Church of Warren in Bisbee, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org).
