Janie D Froiland

Janie D. Froiland, 70. Early Thursday morning on the 2nd of May, 2019, Sierra Vista, Arizona became a little bit darker when one of its brightest stars left. Born on the 27th of October 1948 in Germany, Janie D. Froiland experienced her life as an Army dependent, living in a variety of places to include Okinawa, Italy, and all over the United States.

Eventually, she settled in Sierra Vista with her children, where she met and married her soul mate of 39+ years Ken Froiland.

For Janie, life was a continuous adventure, whether she was at work, at home, or on vacation. She never knew a stranger and continually opened her heart and home to strays from all species – humans, dogs, cats, parrots, guinea pigs, and even turtles! You may have encountered Janie’s warm smile and wonderful wit when she worked at the PX on Fort Huachuca, or maybe at Sears (where she and Ken met and fell in love). Perhaps your paths crossed when she worked at Ace Hardware or Habitat for Humanity. Wherever she was employed, or wherever she traveled, Janie took great care and concern in helping others.

Besides her generous spirit and her avid thirst for knowledge, Janie will also be remembered for her incredible sense of humor. On her 69th birthday, she sent her daughter Roxana a picture of her all dressed out and ready to ride her bicycle. In the message, she wrote: “I went to the bike races, I won. I was the only one in it. LOL”.

Janie will be deeply missed by her numerous friends and family members. Whether she was up for a motorcycle ride, a hike in the Huachuca Mountains, or tending to her garden, Janie embraced the life she was given. She passed this passion along to her daughters, taking them on vacations where they explored the world together

. She is predeceased by her parents, Gene and Ann Flick and stepson Tim Froiland. Janie is survived by her husband Ken, her sister Patty (Larry), brother George, her daughters Roxana and Amy, step-daughter Sheila, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her best friend Rosie.

There will be a Celebration of Life honoring Janie on Saturday, May 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the Serenity Club, 5049 S. Highway 92, Sierra Vista.

Bring stories and a dish to share as we celebrate the life and beauty of a wonderful woman.

Private interment will be held at a later date at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
