James Henry Skjervem

James Henry (Jim) Skjervem, age 69, of Sierra Vista, died peacefully from cancer related complications on November 23, 2017. Born March 31, 1948 in Cheyenne, WY, he was a son to Carmen and Carlene (Nystrom) Skjervem.

He moved to Sierra Vista, AZ in 1987. Jim was a graduate of Cheyenne East High School in 1966. He received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1970.

Jim served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He was a civil servant for the US Government for all of his career, 34 years, stationed at White Sands Missile Range and Fort Huachuca. Jim retired in 2004.

He enjoyed his hobbies which included being a ham radio operator, fishing, bird watching, model airplane flying and traveling the world. He served on the Board of the Friends of the San Pedro River in Sierra Vista. After retirement Jim worked as a volunteer for the Sierra Vista Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his brother Mark (Janie) Skjervem (Playa Del Rey, CA), nephews Ian Skjervem (Playa Del Rey, CA) and Sam Skjervem (Los Angeles, CA) and longtime friend Betty (Boots) Drost, (Sierra Vista, AZ). Per his wishes, no funeral or memorial service is planned.
