Howard K. Wohlfarth, a resident of Sierra Vista, Arizona, for over 20 years, lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on January 09 , 2019, at the Arizona State Veterans’ Home in Tucson. Howard was born December 20, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Louis L. Wohlfarth and Olga (Kirsch) Wohlfarth.
He attended OSU where he majored in forestry and upon graduation, he entered the U. S. Army as a Second Lieutenant. At that time, January 3, 1953, he also married his college sweetheart, Jeannette. They were married 46 years when Jeannette passed away September 1999.
After 26 years of service in the army and having obtained the rank of Lt. Colonel, Howard retired with the distinction of being a Korean and Vietnam War veteran. He then began a second career in the US Civil Service spending a portion of those 17 years living in San Francisco and Vicenza, Italy.
Although Howard enjoyed fishing and gardening, his real loves were golfing and travelling around the world whether it was on a cruise to Alaska or an extended trip to such places as Egypt, The Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, Thailand, or Vietnam.
Howard is survived by his four children: Keith Wohlfarth, Sue (Gene) Call, Ann (Mike) Hecht, and Jane Wohlfarth; six grandkids and 11 great-grandkids.
At his request, he will be cremated and buried next to his wife, Jeannette, in the post cemetery at Ft. Huachuca.
There will be a small Catholic service graveside with military honors for family and several close friends.
No flowers please, but if you desire, make a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
