Guenn Etta Jones, 81, died on Jan. 24, 2018. Guenn was born on April 18, 1936 to Michael N. Bakarich and Sara Grace Bakarich McCool in Bisbee. She attended grade school in the Buena district and graduated from Tombstone High School. She attended college at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Upon graduation, she taught elementary school in the Sierra Vista district for 35 years. She and her late husband, Jack, were 4-H leaders for many years, and literally hundreds of kids learned to ride, rope, and basic horsemanship at their private arena on Moson Road. After retirement, Guenn turned to cattle ranching. She and her husband purchased and managed several local area ranches, which she was still active in managing at the time of her death. A Sierra Vista native, she lived on the original family homestead nearly all of her life. Guenn is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jones. She is survived by two sons, George (Maryann), and Fred (Diana), as well as one daughter, Guenna Townsley (Mike), all of Sierra Vista; eight grandchildren: Wes Jones of New York City, New York, Jennifer Jones and Jacey Lee (Bryan) of Sierra Vista, Kelly Olsen (Martin) of Aztec, New Mexico, Brady Townsley (Samantha) of Blanco, Texas, Jacob (Julia) Townsley of Phoenix, and Zach Townsley and Larissa Jones of Sierra Vista; and three great grandchildren: Timothy, Eric, and Mikayla Jones.
