Gerald V. Lara, 72
Sierra Vista–Gerald V. Lara was born in Douglas, Arizona on May 24, 1946. Jerry left peacefully on June 26, 2018.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Lou Lingle, granddaughter Liza Renee Lingle (my Punky Brewster) and grandson Cameron Cruz Lara. He was preceded in death by his son Jerry A. Lara, brother Jack, sister Norma and mother Maria Lara. Survivors include his brother Larry Lara, sisters Lupe Cornidez and Sandy Quinonez, and many nephews and nieces.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968. His tour was in Vietnam. He was a deputy and detective with Cochise County retiring in 2002. Later he was an investigator with the State of Arizona.
Jerry was a baseball coach for the Sierra Vista Little League and Police Olympics for many years. He coached and played baseball up until the end.
At his request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry’s name to your favorite charity.
