Estela Andrade-Hernandez Obituary

Estela Andrade-Hernandez

07/07/1930 - 04/26/2024

It is with deep regret and sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Estela Andrade-Hernandez on April 23, 2024. Estela was born in Mexico City and grew up in Guadalajara, immigrating to the United States at 28 years old and marrying Carlos Rivas.

As a military wife, she devoted her life to her family, being a dedicated stay-at-home mother and being present in her daughters' education and school events. The family was stationed at Ft. Huachuca with MEDDAC in October of 1983. Retirement came in 1987, and the incompatibility between Estela and Carlos could no longer be ignored. They divorced in 1993, and Estela gave her heart and soul to her daughters while putting herself through college to become a teacher. Estela had a short but fruitful career as an educator, having taught for the Sierra Vista, Tombstone, and Amphitheater school districts from 1999 to 2009, when her health began to decline. Estela had a fun, silly, loud, but caring personality and maintained it as long as she could. She loved her family, her friends, but most of all, she loved Jesus. She helped and cared for many, many people, oftentimes putting her own needs last. Her wishes of cremation will be honored, and no services are planned at this time.

She is survived by her eldest daughter Laura Rivas of Los Angeles, CA, youngest daughter Monica Fornof and her husband Austin of Sierra Vista, and their two children, Trevor and Samuel. To all who cared for her over the years, the family is grateful for the efforts and kindness. Heaven must be even better now, with Estela shaking things up, for which she will be fondly remembered.
