First Sergeant Edward Truman Edwards passed away on June 23, 2024 at the age of 77. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Edward came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. He was born in Prince George, VA on April 12, 1947 to his parents Linwood Edwards SR. and Mary L. Walker. Edward has 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by one sister. Edward proudly served in the U.S. Army for 24 years achieving the rank of First Sergeant, He did tours in Vietnam, Germany, Okinawa, Japan and stateside duty at Fort Lewis, WA and Fort Meade MD. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to his country by serving 26 years with Civil Service and government contracts at Fort Huachuca. First Sergent Edwards was predeceased by son Troy Edwards. He is survived by his three sons and two daughters Steven Zimpelman, Thomas Zimpelman, Clayton Zimpelman, Rosa Edwards and Tracey Kolodzie. He is also survived by his three grandchildren. Edward will be deeply missed by all who knew him but his legacy of service, love and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Services will include a Visitation Viewing (open casket) at Jensen’s Mortuary 5515 S. Highway 92 on Wednesday morning on July 3rd from 9am-11am followed by Graveside service with military honors at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 S Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
