Donald N. Meier, Sr., 93, died on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at BeeHive Homes of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Cause of death was congestive heart failure and pneumonia.
Mr. Meier was born in Arena, Wisconsin. He was a WWII Veteran serving as a front gunner in a B24. He married Dorothy Louise Hayward of Long Island, New York. In 1976 they moved to Arizona.
Don was a mechanic and paint body man most of his life. For 12 years he was the maintenance man at Our Lady of the Mountains where he was also a member. Don retired at the age of 72. Don was a member of the Farmer City, IL American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9972 in Sierra Vista.
He had a great love for fishing, boating, dice games & spending time with friends. He loved Rose’s & took very special care of them. He took wonderful memories with him & left his loved ones with them as well. His precious smile & loving spirit will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by: his wife Dorothy on November 5, 2013 after 65 years of marriage; his parents Frank and Wilma Meier; two brothers, Marvin and Harry; sister, Katherine; and a grandson, Timothy.
He is survived by: five children, Donald Jr., Robert, Gary, Thomas and his daughter Patricia Wassom; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of the Mountains with Father Mike officiating.
