David F Ruiz

Dave Ruiz, Bisbee native, passed away peacefully at home with family present, at the age of 89. Dave was born to Ignacio and Petra (Flores) Ruiz and was the last living child of 11 children. He was the first baby delivered by Dr. Saba who also delivered all 7 of Dave and Arlene's Children. Father Saba, son of Dr. Saba, was there to annoint Dave at his death.
Dave was the owner of the W. R. Ryan Company (Firestone Dealer) and was well known in the area as well as at the many mines he serviced in Southern Arizona, Southern New Mexico, Nacozari, Cananea, and Sonora, Mexico.
Dave attended Bisbee schools and under coach Max Spillsbury starred and was named an All State Football player. He helped the undefeated Pumas win the State Championship in 1954 and 1955. He graduated and married Arlene Amaro in 1955 and they were blessed with 7 children. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August 2025.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Petra, his brothers Ignacio, Luis, Joseph, Gilbert, Roberto, Pedro, Edmundo and his sisters Idolina (Gomez), Alicia (Sanchez) and Beatriz (Romero) and his son Efrem. He is survived by his wife Arlene and 6 Children: David, Marty, Ana (David Thomas), Albert (Cindi), Sara and Mathew; 10 Granchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at St. Patricks Church on May 15th, 2026. Rosary is at 9:00am, followed by mass at 9:30am. A reception will follow in the hall. Internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the St. Patricks Church building fund.
