David Alexander Berlin
12/16/1992 - 12/15/2024
David Alexander Berlin, 31, of Sierra Vista, AZ., passed away quietly at home on the morning of December 15, 2024.
David was born December 16, 1992 on Ft. Huachuca, AZ at Raymond W. Bliss Army Community Hospital to David A. Berlin and Marie Chester-Berlin. He was a lifelong resident of Sierra Vista.
David found his calling as a certified caregiver. The desire to make the world a better place for those who could no longer care for themselves started while helping care for our mother and a special nephew. When David found out that he had passed the exam for the State certification and obtained his level one fingerprint clearance card, excited didn't begin to describe how he felt. He took pride helping people. The compassion, kindness, and attention to detail that he provided to his patients was second to none. You could not ask for a better person to care for your loved one.
David was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic in his late teens. Learning to navigate his disease was a process for the entire family. Luckily for him, his fur baby, Hanna, could pick up on something being off with his sugars even though she was never trained as a service dog. When David would have to spend time in the hospital to stabilize his sugars, his one of a kind personality drew some amazing nurses and physicians into his inner circle. We would have all been lost without their guidance.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Chester-Berlin, a nephew, Aiden Chester, and his first fur baby, Hanna.
David is survived by his father, David A. Berlin; siblings, Jennifer (Christopher) Saylor, Alicia (Ryan) Gill, Benjamin Chester, Theresa (Oscar) Nevarez, Samantha (Benjamin) Mobbley, Kenneth Berlin, and Renee Loomis; nieces and nephews, Matthew Saylor, Abigail Saylor, Alexander Chester, Jacob (Destiny) Gill, Camden Gill, Camden Chester, Catherine Chester, Benjamin F. Chester, Gavin Chester, Rylee Chester, Nadia Nevarez, Taylor Jantz, and Tristan Mobbley; and his other fur babies, Angel and Apollo. We can't forget David's life long best friend, David Brzozowski, and his family.
David's wicked sense of humor, infectious laughter, smirkle, kind heart, and gentle soul will be greatly missed. He could work your last nerve (on purpose, occasionally) but it was impossible to stay upset with him. The nicknames he gave to each of us and we in turn gave to him will forever continue to be used. Until we meet again. We love you, DayDay.
Services are being planned and our family will announce them once they are finalized. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your local animal rescue or animal shelter.
