Craig Brent Liming, 67, passed in his sleep due to natural causes in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was born March 16, 1951, in Ames, Iowa, the first born child of Delbert Maurice and Zona Colleen Atkinson Liming.
He graduated in 1973 from Wartburg College in Waverly with a degree in English.
In 1991, Craig met Laura Cardinal and they married March 13, 2003. He operated Body Works Therapeutic Massage in Sierra Vista for 15 years and later joined the practice of Cardinal Law as head of IT.
More inside Craig was a nationally and internationally recognized triathlete for most of his adult life. Earning more awards than can be listed, he was named Top Male Athlete of the decade in 2010 by the Sierra Vista Herald, was the six-time champion of the Cochise County Cycling Classic (45 mile); a member of Team USA competing in triathlons in the US, Mexico and Canada. In 1999, he won the National Sprint Triathlon Champion in Oceanside, California.
Surviving are his wife, Laura; mother, Colleen Liming of Cedar Falls, Iowa; brother, John (Diane) of Janesville; sisters, Janet Liming of La Porte City and Patti Morrill (Denny Geuter) of Janesville. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert.
A Memorial Party will be held at 3510 E. Lone Mountain Rd., Hereford on Sunday, August 26 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Bicyclists, runners, walkers welcome 2:30-3:00 p.m., shuttle 3:00-5:00 p.m., parking at bottom of the hill. Road closed 5-6pm. Walk on your own 1-mile. Food & beverages provided.
