Barbara Douthit Obituary

Barbara Y. Douthit, 76, of Palominas, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior Friday November 3, 2017, at the Beehive Assisted Living Home. Barbara, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Catherine Taylor, was born in Hammond, Indiana in 1941.

Barbara resided in Palominas for the past 19 years with her husband Mick Douthit and was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse at the Tucson Medical Center Emergency Department for 36 years. For 13 of those years she flew with the Arizona Department of Public Safety as a flight/rescue nurse.

(Krause) Douthit Barbara loved her 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as sewing, shopping and entertaining people in her home. Many of the gifts Barbara sewed for her family are well-loved and well-used. She also enjoyed skiing, camping and going on rides with her little gaited mule.

Barbara was also known in her church and by friends as the Hat Lady as she always wore hats and made them look good.

Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her former husband Gilbert Krause and her sister Georgia O’Conner. Barbara is survived by her husband Mick Douthit, five children, DeAnna McDonald (Michael), Scott Krause (Susan), Kristine Cormier (John), Karin Johnson, Keith Krause (Rachel) and step-children Maren Bigelow (Donald) and Patric Steeg (Melanie).

A Celebration of Life (memorial) service will be held at the Village Meadows Baptist Church, Sierra Vista on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11 a.m., and a social with friends and family following. In lieu of flowers please make donation to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Research Foundation or the Gideons International.
