It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Arlene Spring, aged 89, at her home in Sierra Vista. Family and friends were beside her.
Arlene was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 2, 1928 to Elzie and Lillie Birmingham.
Arlene was the loving mother of four children. As her first career she worked for Western Union in Kingman, Arizona, San Diego, California and La Jolla, California. Never one to be idle, after retiring from Western Union she began a second career with Border Patrol Communications in San Diego, then transferred to the World Trade Center in Long Beach, California. Full retirement allowed her to be more active in her church and charities.
In 2001 she moved to Sierra Vista and continued her work with her church and volunteered for animal shelters and other charities.
She loved life, laughing, going on trips and most of all family, friends, her church and her animals. Arlene was preceded in death by her sons Dennis and Randy. She is survived by her oldest daughter, Darlene Meyer; her son, Rick Spring and his wife; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:30 am Christ Community Church, 2300 Las Brisas Way, Sierra Vista, AZ, (520) 226-0565.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Community Church or the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
