Annie Lee Glee October 16, 1931— October 25, 2017 Annie L. Glee long time resident of Huachuca City, Arizona passed away on October 25, 2017. Annie was born October 16, 1931 in Canton, Mississippi to the late Phillip & Ometar Smith.

Leaving Canton at an early age, she resided in New York, New York, where she spent most of her childhood. She arrived in Sierra Vista with her late husband David Glee in September, 1967.

Annie accepted Christ at an early age at Abyssinia Baptist Church, New York, New York. After moving to Sierra Vista, she attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church where she served faithfully until moving to Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. There she attended Sunday School, Bible Study, Noon Day Prayer, Missionary Society, sang with the Women’s Choir, and served on the Trustee Board.

She was employed with Fort Huachuca Post Exchange, the Commissary, and Defense Military Pay Office before retiring, after which she was employed with Sierra Vista Public Schools as a Paraprofessional. Annie was active in her community, where she served as president of the Greater Huachuca Area Branch NAACP, member of Order of the Eastern Star (Jerusalem Chapter No. 41 & Condon Chapter #12), a recipient of the 25 Most Influential African American Women, the League of AZ Cities and Towns 10 year service award in 1997, and served on the Huachuca City Council from 1987-2001 before being appointed the First African American Mayor in the state of AZ and Huachuca City, AZ in 2000.

Annie leaves to mourn her son, David, 1 sister, Catherine (deceased), 4 uncles, Louis Young, Oak Lawn, Illinois, Alphonso Young, Chicago, Illinois, Claude (Mary) Young, Coral Bell Saffore (Willie), Ernestine, Eva and TJ Young all deceased , 2 aunts, Ida Young, Chicago, Illinois and Annie Washington (TT) deceased, 4 granddaughters, Brandi King, Teena (Robert) Boise, Vanessa Glee, Paige Glee, 6 great grandchildren, Ty Glee, Contessa, Melina and Tristan King, Dominique Polite and Mishaya (Antonio) Acquino, and 3 great great grandchildren Leland King, and Julian and Juliana Acquino and a host of friends.

Visitation is Thursday, November 2nd from 5:00-7:00pm at Jensen’s Mortuary 5515 W. Highway 92.

Services will be held at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Huachuca Boulevard, Huachuca City on Friday November 3, 2017 at 11:00am.
