Alfred B Nelson

Alfred B. Nelson passed away peacefully in Hospice Care on November 2, 2018. Alfred was born on September 30, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota and was the son of Alfred and Verna Nelson. He was raised in St. Paul and was a graduate of Wilson High School and the University of Minnesota’s ROTC program.

Alfred retired as a Commander USN Supply Corp. While on duty he earned a Bronze Star, saving the government many millions of dollars.

Al’s interests were in computer science and Mr. Fix-it projects. To help his Mother while his father was away working, Al learned how to be a handyman in grammar and high school. Alfred Sr. worked in nearby states starting telephone offices during the depression years. Alfred was predeceased by his Father and Mother.

He is survived by Camille, his Wife of 48 years; daughters Suzanne Mowatt of Seattle, Washington, and Jennifer Halenbeck (Paul) of Canton, North Carolina; his brother Lauren Nelson; a granddaughter Adrienne Bishop; grandsons, Nathan Luoma, Michael Luoma, Nicholas Hotchkiss; a great granddaughter; and many cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 22, 2019 at Noon at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
