Michael John Weinkein

September 07, 1950 to April 15, 2024

Michael John Weinkein passed quietly at his home on Monday, April 15, 2024. He was born September 7, 1950, the son of Chalmer Weinkein and Venita (Kline) Weinkein of Perryville, Missouri. He married Linda Sue Hudson on January 13, 1973. They have three sons, Eric (Teresha) Weinkein of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Bruce (Lauren) Weinkein of Parrish, Florida, and Paul (Whitney) Weinkein of Grand Rapids, Michigan. There are five grandchildren, Sloane, Chloe, Cameron, Evan, and Caysen. He has one brother, Roger Weinkein of Perryville, Missouri, and one sister, Tammy Morrison of Gordonville, Missouri. His father and one son, Ryan Todd, preceded him in death. He loved sprint car racing, traveling, watching his sons play basketball, and working in his yard.

He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Retired from the Illinois Dept. of Corrections at Menard Correctional Center in May, 2002. Served in the U.S. Army from January 1970 to January 1972 with an honorable discharge. He was a hard worker all his life. Loved his family and always did the best for them. He will be sorely missed.

Michael will be laid to rest on June 1, 2024 at 10:30 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Highland, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations made to the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Association of Highland LLC. They can be mailed to Ray Schumer, Treasurer, 8676 Hwy B, Perryville, MO 63775. Let Mr. Schumer know it is for Michael so we know who to thank.
